Top 10 Disney, because Anime Is Too Vast.

Posted in Uncategorized with tags , , , , , , , on December 15, 2011 by kerri3lyss

Hey guys. It’s been a long time since I posted anything, huh? That’s because I haven’t found anything to talk about, but I will not let this blog go to waste like so many others, so here it is: my ten favourite Disney male characters! I might do one on Yaoi mangas, but we’ll see.

These are in no particular order.

1) Mulan – Shang

2) Tarzan

3) Cinderella – Prince Charming (even though his haircut could do better.)

 4) Tangled – Eugene Frizherbert

5) Treasure Planet – Jim Hawkins ]

6) Aladdin (besides the eyebrows.)

7) Lilo and Stitch – David Kawena

8) The Little Mermaid – Eric (I used to want to be Ariel. Swimming everyday + hot prince = big grin.)

9) Arthur (I love the quote. Shall steal it for Facebook!)

10) Enchanted – Prince Edward

11) Bonus: THE ONE, THE ONLY – PASCAL THE CHAMELEON. I LOVE THIS GUY.

Also, you people have got to see this: drawings of male Disney characters, except near-naked and realistic. Also, FNEHUIWOBTG4VEHCSAJNMSHGDNK HOT. http://davidkawena.deviantart.com/ I have hereby found my fated mentor. Like seriously.

BSOD, Monitors, Sports, MY GLASSES, DaeSung, Manga… What else?

Posted in Uncategorized with tags , , , , , , , , , , , , on December 6, 2011 by kerri3lyss

Hello to the people to whom I come in peace. Sort of. I haven’t been blogging because both the PC and the Compaq Mini came down with blue screens of death. May they rest in peace. Also, DEATH TO BSOD.

The distance from the Internet really made my heart grow fonder for it.

So, to catch up: this coming Sunday is my last week of Monitor class at the pool! YAY! I begin my internship and work in January – that’s when the new session starts. I both anticipate and dread it – I WILL be earning money, but at the cost of free time 😦 I shall miss you dearly, darling bubble tea. On the other hand: CHINATOWN, HERE WE COME BABY!

Right.

About the ‘exotic’ sports thing in the title: I’m part of the school newspaper club, and I thought it would be cool to do an article about sports few people know – for example, underwater hockey. Anyone can describe hockey, but put it underwater and people go: “Whaaa-? Is that even possible?”

FYI, it is, in fact, possible. Look it up.

So far I have (1) underwater hockey, (2) water polo, (3) sepak takraw (Malaysia, baby!) and (4) chess-boxing. I’m looking for lesser-known sports (Note: MUST EXIST IN REALITY.) that I could introduce in the article. No limits.

Also, once upon a post I wrote about getting new glasses – well, I GOT THEM! They were late because they didn’t pass the quality check at the manufacturer’s – or so the optician said… I’m pretty sure she loved them so much she had to wear them around for a while.

In any case, here they are:

For those who still can’t see: they are purple, half-framed, with jewels on the side. I LOVE THEM. As much as I love the new laptop’s webcam. It’s so much clearer! You’ve got to admit, you like it too. No more blurry, suspicious shadows 🙂

About DaeSung: if you haven’t heard, he put out a new song! I find it okay. It’s called ‘Lunatic’, here’s the video.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HhRLwL48Z3k

I think it’s borderline screamo, but I don’t mind. I mean, if it reflects Dae’s feelings right now, who are we to criticize it? I just hope he recovers quickly ^^ DS fighting!

So on a school trip to the national library last week, I discovered a horrific, epic, sadistic, fantastic manga: Ludwig Revolution by Yuki Kaori. Basically, she takes several classic fairy tales – Sleeping Beauty, Snow White, Rapunzel, Cinderella – and turns them into stories that made me go: “OMGWTFJUSTHAPPENED!?” and I love it.

Its genres are horror and shoujo, mainly, but there are also several funny scenes that lighten the mood a little. The detail for the horrific scenes is amazing. I won’t spoil anything (however much I want to, you know it), but it’s mainly about Prince Louis (I prefer the French version; Lui is just…blech.), a necrophiliac forced to travel the world in search of an ideal (i.e., not dead) wife. The funny scenes usually involve him and his obsession with breasts.

I highly suggest you go read it. NOW. You can read it online, for free, so no excuses.

That’s it for now – ’til next time, people! I had more to talk about, but I forgot…

Freak Tagging. And the Flat Iron. Also, Aliens.

Posted in Uncategorized with tags , , , , , , , , on November 19, 2011 by kerri3lyss

Hey guys. It seems I have many things to talk about today, isn’t it fun?

Freak Tagging.

I’m not sure if blogging counts, but I’m doing it anyway. Bubzbeauty on YouTube did a tag video, entitled ‘Get Your Freak On!’ (which I find quite redundant since my freak is always on) and tagged everyone who watched it. Since I look horrid and can’t talk in front of a camera to save my life, I’ve decided to write instead. Here goes nothing:

#1. What’s a nickname only your family calls you?

>>> My family doesn’t call me anything but Kerri. They’re boring like that. My friends are a different story…

#2. What’s a weird habit of yours?

>>> A weird habit of mine is… well, I put my foot on the printer when I use the computer. I look like a tomboy, but who cares?

#3. Do you have any weird phobias?

>>> I used to. When I was young a butterfly came near me and I freaked because I thought it would bite me like a vampire. Weird enough for you?

#4. What’s a song you secretly love to blast and belt out when you’re alone?

>>> I only belt songs when I’m alone… So, basically everything.

#5. What’s one of your biggest pet peeves?

>>> I can’t stand when people act melodramatic. Like you refuse something they offer and they go, “Fine. See if I offer you anything in the future.”

#6. What’s one of your nervous habits?

>>> I snap at people, unfortunately. I try to hold back, but it’s what I do when I stress.

#7. What side of the bed do you sleep on?

>>> I sleep on any side, really.

#8. What was your first stuffed animal and it’s name?

>>> It was a huge teddy bear and didn’t have a name.

#9. What’s the drink you always order at starbucks?

>>> I don’t go to Starbucks, but at Tim Horton’s I get a small hazelnut ice cappuccino.

#10. What’s a beauty rule you preach, but never actually practice?

>>> I don’t preach beauty rules, so I can’t answer this question.

#11. Which way do you face in the shower?

>>> I turn each and every way =)

#12. Do you have any ‘weird’ body ‘skills’?

>>> I can twitch my ears voluntarily. It freaks people out and then they try to move the muscles with their fingers and look ridiculous while failing.

#13. What’s your favorite comfort food thats ‘bad’ but you love to eat it anyways?

>>> Hmm. Ice-cream.

#14. What’s a phrase or exclamation you always say?

>>>’But, like,…’ -In French – ‘Mais comme…’

#15. Time to sleep, what are you actually wearing?

>>> A hoodie way to large for me (I could change clothes in it), a tank top underneath and pajama bottoms.

—And, of course, I TAG YOU PEOPLE WHO ARE READING THIS. So do it and comment a link.

The Flat Iron

ALL HAIL THE FLAT IRON, FOR IT HAS ARRIVED. I will now take a picture. Or four.

^ The switch and the adjust-temperature-thingy.

^ What it looks like.

^ I love the roses on the outside.

^What the ceramic plates look like.

A review should be up soon, based on my using it on myself.

Edit: I hath uploaded a very brief review – actually, it’s more like an afterthought. It is here – third paragraph after the list at the beginning. The lack of mention in the title does not mean I linked the wrong post.

Aliens

On Freshly Pressed today I found quite possibly the most useful post ever. Here it is: http://livenerddierepeat.wordpress.com/2011/11/15/what-to-do-if-youre-the-first-human-to-make-contact-with-aliens/

It is, have you might have noticed, a tutorial on how to make friends with aliens. Read it and tell me what you think ^^Because I just forgot what I was going to say. ‘Til next time!

When the Camera Goes CRAZY.

Posted in Uncategorized with tags , , , , , , , , on October 18, 2011 by kerri3lyss

Hey guys.

So while my brother was in the shower I was reading photography blogs (congrats to those who got on Freshly Pressed, by the way) and, being bored, I was inspired to have an on-the-spot photography session of my house! I was curious to see if I could take “meaningful” photos without revealing too much about where I live. I enjoyed all 3 minutes of it (since I had to upload and erase the evidence before aforementioned brother came out), but I was only able to take pictures around the living room and the kitchen. I’m of half a mind to do this again, but when both my brother and mother are out, and when the sun is still out. Here they are, anyway; I hope you like. I put captions because I find myself really abstract, and that’s what abstract people do. – Or I just really like captions. 😀

Table lamp to ceiling lamp: challenge accepted.

...Ironically, I don't like raw apples. I like pie though...and sushi.

Under the shelter of a leaf, the faceless angel stands tall...

Make of it what you will and tell me what you made of it.

Like a watchdog, it stares at the bathroom and creeps out all who notice.

I know it looks suspisciously...grey, but this is chicken soup. GOOD chicken soup.

They aren’t a lot nor very good, but hey, I had 3 minutes. I think they’re pretty good for 3 minutes, though. Let me know what you think, and I’ll see you next time. Ciao =D

*Edit: I did the whole thing with the screen zoomed really far out, so I didn’t notice the problem with the photos. Sorry if you saw it.

A New Language! Or Two. Or Three…

Posted in Uncategorized with tags , , , , , , , , , , on October 15, 2011 by kerri3lyss

Hey guys, I might need a little help here.

Being obsessed with KPop, I thought it would be awesome if I learned Korean. However, I’m trying to learn Japanese by myself, (it’s quite difficult) and I’ve stopped studying for a while, with school and KPOP and all that. I still know basics, though. My girlfriend, however, is taking Tagalog because she wants to study in the Philippines, and I think it’d be awesome if we both spoke Tagalog. Being in America, however, people have told me that Spanish can be very useful, so I wouldn’t mind learning that too.

Difficulty is not a big problem – I’m quite good at languages (if I do say so myself). I speak English, French, Mandarin and a bit of Cantonese (not very fluently; I learned it off my mother when we went to restaurants). I used to speak Malay when I was in Malaysia, but y’know. There aren’t many Malays in Canada, so I forgot about 95% of it. – Make that 99%. I can’t speak it fluently.

No – the problem is, I don’t know where to start. All I need to really speak Japanese is practice; I’ve done most of the grammar. I can put that behind for a while, I think. Korean worries me, because have you seen them letters? Incomprehensible! Tagalog seems quite similar to Malay (correct me if I’m wrong), and Spanish is similar to French.

And you might have noticed, I need help making up my mind. I’m leaning towards Korean at the moment, yay all you Korean-speakers! Comment with tips if you have any. I should go begin now. Wish me luck ^.-

By the way, it’s surprising how so many Korean stars speak more than one language. Look it up, you’d be shocked.

After posting Specs! and Circus. I was still bored, so I thought I would post a list of songs I listen to. These are off the top of my head because I can’t find my iPod, so you can tell I listen to them a LOT. Feel free to look them up and take them if you like them. I really think no adolescent blog is complete without the author’s personal music playlist, because we are almost totally surrounded by music these days.

Here they are, in no particular order. ( Artist – Song)

  35. Whomping Willows – I Believe in Nargles
Wow…. nearly all of them are Korean. There are many more songs I like, of course; as I said, these were off the top of my head. Also, if you know any I might like, or even if you want to tell everyone your favorite song and the moment, feel free to comment and suggest them ^^
I mentioned dwarves in the title. Is it just me, or does the younger generation seem shorter? Not because they’re mere kids – no, I’m talking 12, 13-year-olds here: i.e, the batch of seventh-graders (first secondary) in my school. Walking amongst them feels like wading through water around your sternum. THEY’RE SO SHORT, IT’S UNBELIEVABLE. They’re also rather cute, like babies carrying heavy Science books. Is this human evolution I’m witnessing?
Also, their being so short makes me crack up whenever I see them acting cool, with their snapbacks and leather jackets. It’s enough to make anyone want to pinch their cheeks. They remind me of kids, younger still, talking excitedly about Pokemon like it’s Call of Duty or Assassin’s Creed. “No, here’s how to make Pikachu evolve…” *grin*
And there’s my second post of the day. I’m still bored, but I’ll go find something else to do. ‘Till next time~

Specs! and Circus.

Posted in Uncategorized with tags , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , on October 15, 2011 by kerri3lyss

I skipped school today to get specs! That is both a good and bad thing: good because I. SKIPPED. SCHOOL. – and bad because they cost about 473$ or something. My poor mother.

(Then again, there was a 2 for 1 offer – hers will be free.)

This is what my current pair looks like:

Not that I hate this nigh-indestructible pair of glasses (seriously. I sat on it once and it just bent slightly), but I can’t wait for my new pair. This one’s rusting a bit on the inside. The new ones are purple metal, with half-frames (is that how you call it?) I’ll take a picture when I get them sometime next week.

I mentioned circus in the title. By a stroke of luck, I managed to snag a place in the aerial hoop class at my school, where circus is an extracurricular activity. (Oh look, the nerd knows big words. :D) Here’s what happened:

(1) My friend MN joined aerial hoop last year. I wanted to, but there weren’t any more places.

(2) This year my other friend S asked to join MN, and succeeded. However:

(3) S also did a dance audition to join the school dance group, and passed, therefore being unable to take the aerial class, because the practice is at the same time.

(4) I took her place.

For those who haven’t heard of an aerial hoop before, it’s like a metal hula hoop hung from the ceiling with either one or two cords. For those who think it’s an easy art, it MOST CERTAINLY ISN’T. In the space of two hours I forgot how to mount about ten times and my muscles have being hurting for the past three days. The class was Tuesday.  On the optimistic side, I discovered I can almost do the split, something I’ve been trying off and on since 2005. HOW AWESOME IS THAT!?

Of course, it didn’t help that I had had an Assistant-Monitor in Aquatic Security (translated literally from French) class Sunday, during which I think I swam a little over 40 laps. We started in on teaching young children the breast stroke. You know how they first learn to swim with straight arms? – Yeah, I DON’T KNOW HOW THEY MANAGED IT. Our arms hurt like *bleep* afterwards.

But I digress. I still love the aerial hoop class so far, though.

Still on the topic of circus, there was a new boy in my class, whom L (my friend, not L of Death Note, all you pun hunters) almost immediately dubbed my ‘love plushie’. Secretly, I agree with her because he’s cute, like a plushie I feel like squeezing randomly. It’s too early in the friendship for that, though. *grin*

What does he have to do with circus? Well, he turned out to be quite good at poi (look it up) and even gives shows with fire. The moment my friends saw him they told me immediately, “Oh look, Kerri’s got competition~” and earned death glares each. I’d like him to teach me something, but I don’t know if I’d have the guts to do so – asking for help from male friends has always been my weakness. Wish me luck…

And before I forget – I’m thinking of taking up hoop dancing or hoop path (basically dancing with a hula hoop), but all I can do is spin with my torso, my arm and my finger. I need something to learn from, so all you hoop dancers out there, if you have anything that might help, comment with it; I’ll thank you forever =) I do know it’s better to ask my teacher, but he doesn’t specialize in hoop dancing, so I don’t know if he has anything to teach.

Oh, and this blog will mainly be talking about random things, but I can’t always come up with popular topics – just look at this post. If there’s something you want someone to talk about, by all means, suggest it and I’ll see what I can do. ‘Till next time~
